The river is 100 meters deep.

The way from our school to the town is 200 meters long.

(7) 基数词的复数形式表示年代和年龄

表示年代：in the + 年份的复数     在几世纪几十年代.  

如： 在十九世纪七十年代         in the 1870s

表年龄：in one’s + 整十的复数     表示在某人几十岁时   

如：He invented many inventions in his twenties.

(8) 与another, more连用时，表示在已有基础上再增加一定数量，其结构为：another+基数词或基数词+more。

如：He ate another two cakes. = He ate two more cakes.

(9)表示数学运算。如：

What’s three and four?

Five times four is twenty.

注：在表运算的句子中，谓语动词用单数。

（10）关于“半”的表达

基数词 + and + a half +名词复数 = 基数词 +名词(单数/复数) +and +a half

two and a half hours  = two hours and a half

二、序数词

1. 序数词表示人或事物的顺序的词。

序数词的构成：

口诀：基变序，有规律，词尾要加th 。

一二三，特殊记，词尾分别tdd(first second third )。

八去t ，九去e，ve要用f替。ty变作tie，再加th莫忘记。

若遇几十几，只变个位就可以。

2. 序数词的用法

(1) 表示顺序。序数词表示顺序时，其前需用定冠词the,后面接单数名词。如：

   The fourth man comes from the USA.

(2) 表示日期中的“日”，如2006年5月14日表示为：May 14th,2006读作May the fourteenth, two thousand and six.

(3) 分数词：分子用基数词，分母用序数词。分子为1，分母用单数；分子大于1，在分母序数词后加s.如：

Five sevenths of the sheep are black.

注：英语中1/2=a half     1/4=a quarter
